This page explains what data VideoDownloader processes across the website, macOS app, membership service, and Chrome Browser Helper Extension, why that data is needed, and what we do not do with it.
1. Core principles
We keep as much functionality on your device as possible, avoid unnecessary collection, and do not sell user data.
If a piece of data is not needed to deliver downloads, membership sign-in, payment confirmation, support, or abuse prevention, we generally do not ask for it.
2. Website and membership service
When you browse the website, create an account, sign in, or complete a purchase, we may process the email address you provide, sign-in cookies, order information, payment status, and basic technical request records.
This information is used only to create membership access, verify sign-in, display entitlement status, send sign-in links, resolve order issues, and prevent abuse.
3. macOS app
VideoDownloader is designed so downloading, media parsing, organization, and private library actions are handled locally on your device. Your downloaded content and local media library are not automatically uploaded to our servers simply because you use the app.
If you use membership features, the app communicates with our service to verify sign-in state, entitlement status, and update-related information.
4. Chrome Browser Helper Extension
The Browser Helper Extension has a single purpose: when you actively invoke it, it reads the current tab information needed for a download and passes the media link or necessary page details to your local VideoDownloader macOS app.
The current review build does not request broad host permissions by default and does not batch-collect the websites you browse to our servers. The extension does not provide advertising, data resale, or behavioral analytics features.
5. Support and contact
When you contact us at vd.downloader2025@gmail.com, we process the information you include so we can reply, handle refunds, help with installation, or troubleshoot account issues.
6. Data sharing and retention
We do not sell your personal information. Limited data may be shared with necessary service providers or legal authorities only when required to process payments, send essential membership emails, operate infrastructure, or comply with law.
We retain relevant information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes above, then delete or de-identify it according to business, legal, and security needs.
7. Your choices
You can stop using the website, remove local app data, sign out of your membership, or email us for help with account and personal data requests.
